30 Before 30

Published April 9, 2012 by jenmatteson
I love making lists, and moreover, I love crossing things off my lists!  It’s a great way of setting goals for yourself, whether it’s a list of things to get done over the weekend, a grocery list, or even a list of lifetime goals.

I’ll be 30 in a little over a year, and in an attempt to broaden my cooking proficiency, I made a “bucket list” of sorts; I’ve compiled a list of 30 things I’d like to make before I turn 30.  I ran out of steam about halfway through, so I asked for suggestions.  I’ll cross things off as I go, so you can follow along to make sure I’m on track to meet my goal!  Please share any recipes, tips, or tricks you have for any of my list items.

Your Help is Needed!

I’m a little over a year away from 30, so in an attempt to expand my culinary skills (and quite possibly my waist), I’ve decided to make a “30 Before 30” list, in which I’ll attempt to conquer 30 recipes or techniques that are new to me; a bucket list of sorts.  I’ve made a small start to my list, but I need suggestions on what you would like to see me make, too!

  1. Homemade Flour Tortillas
  2. Grilled Pizza
  3. Homemade Hot Sauce
  4. French Silk Pie
  5. Lattice Topped Pie
  6. English Muffin Bread
  7. Bagels
  8. Sourdough Bread
  9. Chocolate Mousse
  10. Red Velvet Cake
  11. Homemade pasta noodles (I’ll either have to purchase a pasta machine or borrow one for this one)
  12. Beef Wellington
  13. Onion Rings
  14. Braised Short Ribs
  15. Homemade Veggie Burger

Help!  What do you want to see me make in the next year?  What have you always wanted to try, but thought was too difficult to even attempt?

Jumping in feet first!

I’ve finally taken the plunge and started my own cooking blog.  My biggest fear was not being tech savvy enough to be able to do this, which I’ve proven true with trying to figure out how to change my header.  Oh well, in time.  My second hesitation to starting a blog was that I wouldn’t have enough time.  We’ll have to wait to see how that works out. Finally, I am not so gifted with taking pictures of food, so hopefully that’ll improve with time and practice.
